A few weeks ago, I was in College Station, Texas photographing a couple’s engagement session. It was my first time meeting Jessica and Steven and they told me the story of how they met in college. Inevitably, I was able to understand why they wanted to come back to College Station to do their engagement session. We ended the session at the Bush Library where the rose gardens were in bloom and the beautiful pond was calm. It was here that Steven asked Jessica to marry him.
While shooting, we came across a woman who was hiding in the garden. She had rose petals laid out and photographs hanging by clothespins in an archway above a small wooden box. When we asked her what she was doing she said she was awaiting the moment of her son’s arrival with his girlfriend because he was going to propose to her in this exact same spot. Jessica and Steven were ecstatic! They couldn’t wait to see the proposal take place. This moment would allow them the opportunity to relive the moment of their own proposal. As the couple made it to the spot, Mom took off into the woods and her son got down on one knee. Jessica, Steven, and I watched as he spoke beautiful words and asked his girlfriend to marry him. I was close enough to take these two photographs of them and I just had to share them with you. And if you were wondering, she said YES!
This is the first time I have ever seen a proposal and it brought tears to my eyes! I wish Matt and Laura all the happiness in the world…
